Meet the Team

Dalil

OWNER / SUP SURFING GUIDE/ YOGI

Dalil was born in Agadir but has spent the last few decades in San Diego, California, working in the hospitality industry while raising a family and enjoying surf and yoga daily. Although life in Southern California was pretty awesome, Dalil had been missing his culture for way too long so, in 2021, he decided it was time to head back to beautiful Morocco.

After many months of searching for the perfect home, Dalil acquired Maroc Surf Camp, one of the top-rated surf camps in the Taghazout bay area and, since then, many upgrades have been made to the camp. Aside from his obvious passion for sharing his amazing culture, Dalil’s 37 years of customer service experience can be felt from the moment he welcomes you at the camp’s door.

Dalil is fluent in French, English, Spanish, Italian and Darija (local dialect) and, like it is often the case in Morocco, he is a wonderful guide and story teller! Just get him started and you’ll feel his passion about sharing the beauty of Morocco, its fascinating culture, its amazing cuisine and its proud people. And, speaking of surf, if you are a regular like Dalil, you will feel like you’re in surfers heaven and you will love the variety of spots going right :)

Mina

HEAD CHEF

Mina is from the small village of Aourir right next door, and her sweetest personality and culinary talents are always mentioned and missed by guests who have stayed with us before.

Mina actually never had a chance to learn how to read or write but she will definitely blow your taste buds away with her lavish breakfasts, fresh salads and amazing, authentic Moroccan specialties every night.

She does her own shopping, takes pride in her work and makes it her duty to guarantee our guests are served the freshest and healthiest organic products available.

For guests who have special food requirements, Mina cooks delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes . Currently her focus is on learning more yummy desserts recipes.

Finally, she is also in charge of making sure that your room and the camp are kept clean and tidy at all times so all you have to do is relax.

Karim

RESIDENT YOGA TEACHER

On the yoga side, Karim, our resident yoga teacher/guide is certified in several classic yoga styles (Hatha/Vinyasa/Kundalini Shakti/Yyengar/Functional therapy and Tantra).

Karim brings a quiet but powerful vibe to the yoga and loves teaching in our 180 degrees ocean-views yoga shala. Throughout his career Karim has also travelled extensively to many exotic yoga destinations and therefore brings with him a multitude of worldwide cultural experiences.

Aziz

MR DO IT ALL

Aziz comes to us from the beautiful region of Oualidia, one hour south of Casablanca on the Atlantic coast. Until recently, and pretty much during all his life, Aziz had lived on his family’s farm, herding his uncle’s few sheep and cattle and watching the time pass by. After one year at the camp, Aziz has become an essential part of the team and has won all his coworkers respect for doing all the chores that none of us are willing to do with such pride, enthusiasm and a constant smile to top it off!

Just like the superhero we nicknamed him after, you will notice Aziz relentlessly zipping up and down our villa’s stairs, preparing the rooms for our arriving guests, running to the convenience store to get some hot bread, cleaning up the stairs or simply on his way to help a guest that needs assistance.

Today we are proud to see that Aziz now knows how to properly host a guest, set a dinner table, beautifully garnish a dish, keep the camp tidy at all times and so much more!

By the way, did we mention that, just like his aunt Mina, Aziz does not know how to read or write? We are all impressed by the rapidity of how fast Aziz learns!

Clara

CAMP MANAGER / SOCIAL MEDIA

Born in San Diego, California from a Korean father and a French mom, Clara is a typical young California girl with a beaming smile and a great attitude no matter what.

Her passions in life are longboard surfing, skating, practicing yoga daily, going on road trips in her custom VW van, and taking care of doggies but she is also very involved and dedicated when it comes to humanitarian and sustainable issues.

As a matter of fact, and thanks to her past experience in building eco-friendly and seismic proof houses in New Mexico, she just took on a local project to help rebuild houses in a Berber village that were completely destroyed during the recent earthquake in Morocco.

Aside from that, Clara is fluent in English and French and she has been picking up Darija (local Moroccan dialect) very fast.

Following a vegetarian lifestyle herself, Clara is also great at shopping for and using local products to create delicious menus for our vegetarian/vegan guests and I won’t even begin talking about her amazing baking skills!

And on the spiritual side, Clara is also a newborn Sivananda yoga teacher and a certified Reiki healer.

Bottom line, Clara is an old wise soul nestled in a beautiful and generous young heart. Once your path crosses hers, I guarantee you it will be one of those rare encounters in life that you never forget

Chakra & Ripper

HOME SECURITY

Just over a year old, brother Ripper and sister Chakra were found by Dalil’s brother in the streets of Tangiers when they were two months old. He received a video asking if I had room for them and, although he never had pets before, we just could not resist their cuteness :)

Once they arrived in our camp, Chakra and Ripper immediately charmed the entire camp and continue to do so today as adults. They are super friendly dogs so it is not uncommon to find guests early in the morning petting the dogs in the courtyard.

Fun fact they are currently being trained every day by a dog trainer in hopes of helping a bit more around the house.
